Minutes of Executive Council Meeting of GAMS held on 27.03.2011

 

A meeting of executive committee of Gwalior Academy of Mathematical Sciences (GAMS) was held at School of Mathematics & Allied Sciences, Jiwaji University, Gwalior on 27.03.2011 at 9.00 A.M. Following members attended the meeting:

  6. Dr. Jainendra Jain
  7. Dr. S.S.Shrivastava (Special Invitee)

Following decisions were made in the meeting:

  1. The minutes of last executive committee meeting held at MERIT, New Delhi on 12.12.2010 were approved and confirmed.
  2. Prof. V.P.Saxena, Prof. K.R.Pardasani and Prof. R.K.Datta briefed about the activities of GAMS. It was suggested to celebrate GAMS foundation day in Gwalior and to conduct at least one activity in Gwalior in the foundation month of GAMS. It was also emphasized that the activities of GAMS should not be restricted to only one annual conference a year.

Instead GAMS should organize the Conferences/ Workshops/ Seminars/ Symposia round the year. It was also decided to give substantial discounts to GAMS members in the programmes organized by GAMS.

  1. It was confirmed that the 2nd International & 16th annual conference of GAMS will be organized at S.S.Dempo Arts & Commerce College, Panaji, Goa during September 22 to September 25, 2011.
  2. The request from Dr. S.S.Shrivastava, HOD – Mathematics & Computer Science, Govt. P.G. College, Shahdol to hold a national workshop in Shahdol was accepted and it was decided to organize a National Workshop of GAMS on Computer Simulation of Real Life Problems with Special Reference to Environment at Shahdol during January, 2012. It was also decided to provide refundable seed money of maximum Rs. 15,000 = 00 (Rs. Fifteen Thousand Only) to Govt. P.G. College, Shahdol for the same.
  3. It was decided to amend the decision regarding institutional membership taken in executive council meeting on 11th January, 2008 as follows:

The institutional membership will be granted for a period of five years. The membership fee for institutional members will be Rs. 10,000 = 00 (Rs. Ten Thousand). The member institutions can appoint two members and will have the voting rights.
The form for institutional membership will be prepared and issued as soon as possible.

  1. To give a boost to the membership drive of GAMS it was decided that all the members of executive committee will make at least two members every month.
  2. It was agreed to publish only two issues instead of four issues of GAMS journal in a year. The first issue will have volume number 1 &2 and the second issue will have volume number 3 & 4 so that the number of volumes in a year is not affected. GAMS President Prof. R.K.Datta is authorized to take decision in this regard in consultation with the publisher.
  3. To cut down the cost of the GAMS Journal it was decided that the e – copy (CD) of GAMS journal will be provided to all the life members of GAMS and hard copy of the journal will be provided only to the institutional members.              
  4. GAMS President Prof. R.K.Datta informed that the 2009 issue of GAMS journal will be printed by April 15, 2011 and the position of 2010 and 2011 issues will be updated.
  5. It was decided to issue a corrected cheque of Rs. 20,000 = 00 (Rs. Twenty Thousand) to MERIT, New Delhi towards the expenses for 15th annual conference of GAMS. The cheque issued earlier was rejected by the bank on account of over writing. The above fund of Rs. 20,000 = 00 (Rs. Twenty Thousand) has already been received from DST and has been deposited in GAMS account.  
  6. It was suggested by the GAMS President Prof. R.K.Datta that some funding should be made to the executive committee members to attend the meetings from the society’s account.
  7. It was resolved to revive the News Bulletin of GAMS. Dr. Nitin Merh was assigned the responsibility of the same.
  8. It was decided to make the following amendment in the bylaws of the society:

All the posts of executive committee will be of two years duration. A person can hold the post for not more than two consecutive terms. However, after a cooling period of two years he/she can again hold the post.

  1. The accounts for the years 2009 – 10 and 2010 – 11 were approved as per the enclosure.
  2. GAMS President Prof. R.K.Datta was authorized to take decisions regarding the website space. The expenses for the same will be borne by the Society.
